While they might not be paid the same amount as the main actor, the production company has to make the necessary arrangements to pay their salary and keep them safe too. After all, doubles play a critical role in making the movie better for the audience. Such was the case for Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Unexpected things happen during filming— and Tony Angellotti, no matter how good a stuntman he is, could not have avoided the circumstance. During the filming of the second Pirates movie, the stuntman had a near-fatal accident. He went on a freefall while doing the human yo-yo scene, which caused severe damages. Angelotti ended up filing a lawsuit against Disney. While we could argue that the insurance company and Disney would pay for his medical bill, life may not be the same anymore for him. Therefore, care must really be exercised by everyone on the set, that is, to avoid mishaps as much as possible.
