Tony Bennett – 92

Anthony Dominick Benedetto, more famous by his stage name Tony Bennett, is considered as one of the oldest surviving Jazz musicians. Born to an Italian-American family on August 3, 1926, in Astoria, the Grammy-winning musician and painter fought in the final days of WW II as a U.S. Army infantryman, specifically on the European front. After the war had ended, he pursued a career in his long-admired industry of music. Here, he developed a singing technique, which caught the attention of the music giant Columbia Records.

Since then, the artist has put hit after hit, especially during the ‘50s, such as Because of You in 1951, Rags to Riches during 1953, with The Beat of My Heart, Basic Swings, and Bennett Sings all were during the same decade. His most notable song, however, would be his 1962 smash-hit I Left My Heart In San Francisco, which would, later on, be preserved by the National Recording Registry due to the song’s high degree of significance.
