Smokey Robinson – 81

Born on February 19, 1940, William “Smokey” Robinson Jr. is now turning 81 years old this year. He is a well-known singer-songwriter, former record executive, and producer. Smokey was the founder of Motown’s vocal group The Miracles, serving as the frontman and also as the chief songwriter. In 1972, he split from the group and focused his energy as the vice president of the record company mentioned. However, he immediately made a comeback to the music scene as a solo artist the following year. Moreover, Motown Records was sold in 1988, and because of this, he decided to leave the company in 1990.

Robinson was married to Claudette Rogers, has two children, but later called his attorney to file for legal separation. If you’re wondering where Smokey came from, it was actually Smokey Joe, and it was given by his Uncle Claude, then he eventually dropped the Joe. For his undeniable and commendable contribution to the industry, he was an inductee in the 1987 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
