ERIC BURDON – 80

While many may associate the British Invasion of the 1960s with the Beatles, Eric Burdon is also widely associated with the highly influential phenomenon. Burdon first became familiar with music during his teenage years. He began his career in 1962 when he became the frontman for the band The Animals. The band became one of the leading brands during the British Invasion of the 1960s, which saw the proliferation of British music in the U.S. and dramatically changed American music culture. Among the band’s most famous songs include The House of the Rising Sun, It’s My Life, and Don’t Let Be Misunderstood. Aside from the Animals, he was also associated with the funk-rock band War. He eventually embarked on his solo career in 1971, achieving considerable success.

Outside of music, he also ventured into film acting. Among his film credits include The Doors, The Blue Hour, and Comeback. Today, he still fronts the Animals, although the band’s composition has changed drastically from the band’s original lineup during the 1960s.
