Ann Blyth – 92

Ann Blyth is an icon for many reasons, not least of which is the fact that she is among the lasts surviving stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age. She had quite an early start in the industry, performing for children’s radio shows in New York City for close to six years, starting when she was only five years old. By the time she was nine, she became part of New York Children’s Opera Company. This led to her successful career in Broadway, starting with a role in Lillian Hellman’s Watch on the Rhine. She did a total of 378 performances for the show!

Unlike other child stars, she was able to seamlessly transition to doing more mature roles as she grew into adulthood. Among her most memorable films include a role in Mildred Pierce, where she portrayed Veda. The role didn’t just help the actress gain credit for her performance, she was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress thanks to it.
