Willie Mays – 90
Born as Willie Howard Mays, the 90-year-old former professional baseball player is often hailed as one of American Baseball’s greatest players. Having admired the sport all his childhood, he joined the Birmingham Black Barons in 1948, and later, the San Francisco Giants after he graduated high school. Shortly after, he won the Rookie of the Year Award, but then served the US Military for two years, during the Korean War
It was after serving that in 1954, he won the National League, and the Most Valuable Player award. He further made history when he did an over-the-shoulder catch against Cleveland Indians player and baseman Vic Wertz, which was later on named ‘The Catch’. This was then made the crowning jewel of Mays’s career, which solidified his role as one of Baseball’s best players to date.
