ED ASNER – 89
Ed Asner has a long and stellar career in acting for more than six decades, spanning many mediums and genres. After serving in the military during the 1950s, he started his acting career in theater in 1957. However, Asner became well-known to audiences for his role as Lou Grant on the sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show. After the sitcom ended in 1977, his character was so popular that he acquired his spin-off show, Lou Grant, which ran from 1977 to 1982. His other notable performances on TV include Roots, Hawaii Five-O, and Rich Man, Poor Man. He has won seven Emmys throughout his television career, which is the most won by a male performer.
Aside from TV and theater, Asner also has a respectable career in voice acting and film. He has voiced countless characters, including J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man, Jabba the Hutt in the radio version of Star Wars, and Carl Fredricksen in Up. Outside of his acting career, Asner became president of the Screen Actors Guild for two terms. His tenure gained definition from a massive strike in 1980. He has also made an investment towards various causes, including autism awareness.
